Darian Heyman co-founded the only conference series in the country devoted to social media for social good, Social Media for Nonprofits, which educates social sector leaders on how to advance fundraising, marketing, advocacy, and recruitment efforts online. Previously, he served as Executive Director of Craigslist Foundation and served as a Commissioner for the Environment for San Francisco.  He is an author and public speaker that provides strategy, messaging and fundraising consulting for nonprofits and green economy organizations.

Michael Green, Executive Director, founded the Center for Environmental Health in 1996. Mr. Green has been a leader in national efforts to protect children and families from lead and other unnecessary chemicals in consumer products and from illnesses related to toxic pollution. Previously, he worked on community environmental health at both the US Department of Energy and the US EPA, designed a solid waste management plan for the Tibetan refugee community in Dharamsala, India, and cared for the sick at Mother Teresa’s mission in Calcutta, India.

Gil Friend is president & CEO of Natural Logic Inc, helping companies design, implement and measure profitable sustainability strategies. He is widely considered one of the founders of the sustainable business movement, and was recently named an inaugural member of the ISSP Sustainability Hall of Fame. He is a systems ecologist and business strategist with nearly 40 years experience in business, communications, and environmental innovation. Gil has a black belt in Aikido, and is a seasoned practitioner of “The Natural Step” environmental management system. He was twice named one of the Bay Area’s “top 25 movers and shakers in CleanTech.”

Jay Golden learned the craft of storytelling on the road, traveling from Kathmandu to Cusco to Marrakech by train, bus and boat. With time, he became skilled the traveler’s commerce - sharing stories, person-to-person, with those he met along the way. Landing in San Francisco in the mid-90s, he found those skills useful as he led dozens of productions, including websites that taught (Learn2.com), videos that entertained (Shockwave.com) and viral animations that did both (Freerange.com). But as the social media universe expanded rapidly, Jay found people were losing touch with the more ancient media: sharing stories, person-to-person, with those they met along the way. So in 2009, Jay formed Wakingstar, which helps leaders of such organizations as Rainforest Action Network, Levi Strauss and Environmental Defense Fund tap the power of well-told stories – so they can connect with their audiences, inspire their networks, and shape the world.
